1-D-1 Companion is a mobile app designed for Texas landowners who maintain their property under the 1-D-1 Open-Space Wildlife Management Appraisal. The app helps you log wildlife management activities throughout the year and generate a complete annual reporting packet - ready to submit to your County Appraisal District (CAD) by the April 30 deadline.
Yes. A Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD)-approved Wildlife Management Plan must already be in place before your property qualifies for the 1-D-1 wildlife management appraisal. This app helps you document activities and generate your annual report - it does not create or replace your Wildlife Management Plan. If you need help establishing a plan, contact TPWD or a certified wildlife biologist.
Texas law requires that you actively conduct at least 3 of the following 7 TPWD-recognized management practices:
Your specific qualifying activities should align with your approved Wildlife Management Plan and your TPWD regional planning guidelines.
After creating your account, the app will guide you through property setup. You can enter your property details manually - including county, acreage, and parcel ID - or upload a previous annual report to pre-fill your information.
Tap the Activity Log tab and select "+ New Entry." Choose the activity category, enter the date, add notes or photos, and save. Activities are organized by category so you can track progress toward your minimum 3-category requirement throughout the year.
Yes. 1-D-1 Companion is designed for offline-first use. You can log activities and capture photos in the field without a signal. Your data will sync automatically when you return to connectivity.
From the Annual Report tab, you can preview your report at any time. When you're ready, export a complete PDF report packet formatted for submission to your County Appraisal District. Annual report export requires an active subscription.
The annual report must be submitted to your County Appraisal District (CAD) by April 30 each year (or postmarked by April 30). The app displays a countdown to help you stay on track. Requirements may vary slightly by county - always confirm with your CAD.
